The CIA NEXGen webinar series is organised, hosted and presented by young professionals in the concrete industry. Our first webinar for 2023 is hosted by CIA NSW Young Professional Members, Dr Marie Joshua Tapas and Sophie McGuire, and focuses on the cement and concrete pathways to achieving net zero CO2 in the concrete industry by 2050.
Concrete is the world’s most widely used building and construction material and is vital to securing a resilient built environment that is sustainable for life. However, it is widely reported that cement production makes up 8% of the worlds carbon dioxide emissions, which is not surprising considering the quantities consumed. However, there is now considerable work being undertaken to help minimise this figure, particularly in Australia where the cement and concrete industry have developed guidelines for the pathway to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This webinar will consider some of the initiatives being researched and considered from some of our leading young professional practitioners.
