Marine structures fight a front-line battle against the harshest environmental exposure conditions for infrastructure. Marine infrastructure: ports, bridges, jetties, and offshore structures are critical national assets and essential to trade, transport, and industry. Ensuring their longevity and safety is crucial for economic sustainability and public safety.
This recorded webinar focusses on maintaining and inspecting marine concrete structures, featuring industry experts discussing non-destructive testing (NDT), advanced monitoring technologies, and digital tools for accurate condition assessment and cost-effective maintenance. Learn from real-world case studies and explore best practices for proactive asset management in harsh marine environments. The webinar features experienced speakers sharing insights on marine asset durability, inspection challenges, and sustainable maintenance strategies.
Bridge Maintenance in Marine Environments
Presenter: Egor Volkov
When you’re starting off how many people are not sure where to start with taking care of your structure? In my early days, despite having a lot of support from colleagues, I often felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of the testing and repair options available. Along the way, I’ve seen critical elements of structures left to degrade or repaired incorrectly – and yes, I’ve made my share of mistakes too. In the first part of this presentation, I’ll share the most important lessons I’ve learned about maintaining bridges in marine environments. In the second part, I’ll discuss the most useful non-destructive technique (beyond visual inspection) to help you gauge the health of your marine concrete structure.
Access and Maintenance of Marine Concrete Structures
Presenter: Patrick McCormack
This presentation will explore practical and innovative strategies for the inspection, maintenance, and remediation of marine and coastal concrete infrastructure. Drawing on extensive experience delivering complex access and remediation projects across Australia’s ports, jetties, wharves, and offshore platforms, Patrick will share insights into the challenges of working in challenging marine environments and how alternative methods such as rope access, hung platforms, and hybrid access systems are revolutionising how asset owners can approach maintenance and remediation. The presentation will feature real-world case studies, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of how tailored access methodologies can reduce costs, risks, and impact to asset operations while significantly enhancing the performance of marine concrete asset projects.
