In this webinar, we invited three international Presenters, one each from Australia, Italy and the United States, to discuss innovations, developments and challenges in Tunnel Sprayed Concrete.
The webinar contains three presentations:
Design Approaches for FRC Sprayed Concrete Tunnels.
Presenter: Alberto Meda
This presentation aims to support designers, contractors and clients, with guidance for the use of structural fibre reinforced concrete in tunnels and underground spaces, constructed using sprayed concrete lining methods. It is intended to complement the fib Model Code 2010 which presents a section on the design of fibre reinforced concrete, with the Model Code 2010 being considered as the reference basis for the design of sprayed fibre reinforced concrete linings.
Fibre Spray Concrete: Testing and Performance Criteria
Presenter: Benoit de Rivaz
This presentation supports the designer, contractors and clients by introducing FRSCL, and referring to the existing state of art in order to specify the right performance and testing methods. The different ways of specifying the ductility of fibre reinforced sprayed concrete, in terms of residual strength, and energy absorption capacity, are not directly comparable. The residual strength must be specified when the concrete characteristics are used in a structural design model, whereas the energy absorption value, measured on a plate with continuous support, can be specified when (in the case of rock-bolting), emphasis is laid on energy which must be absorbed during the deformation on the rock. This presentation examines the different testing and performance criteria of both methods.
Use of High-Performance Fibres in Permanent Sprayed Concrete Lining (PSCL) for Road Tunnels in Australia
Presenter: David Oliveira
David will discuss some of the concepts and challenges in designing shotcrete as ground support for tunnels. He will also present some of the recent advancements and developments in this application.
