Presenter(s)
- Professor Stephen Foster - University of NSW
From time to time, there are instances where placed concrete does not achieve its specified 28-day compressive strength. The consequences typically involve rigorous technical assessment, forensic investigation and, not infrequently, contractual dispute. This recorded webinar examines the issue from a structural design perspective. How should the compressive strength of placed, hardened concrete be evaluated? Is it appropriate to adopt a strength determined at an age other than 28 days and, if so, in what circumstances? What are the implications for the application of the design models in AS 3600 and other relevant standards and codes? What does f’c represent in both statistical and structural terms, and how is it embedded within the reliability framework that underpins limit state design?
CPD
This webinar provides 1 hour of CPD. Engineers Australia members may claim this hour of CPD if applicable to their area of engineering practice. This webinar is also recognised CPD for members of other professional bodies with annual CPD obligations. Participants should retain their purchase confirmation as evidence for their CPD records.
