This recorded webinar is one of the CIA NEXGen series of webinars, which are organised and presented by the Young Professional members of the CIA to promote topics and generate interest from their viewpoint. They present a fresh approach to excellence in concrete. In this webinar Matt Obst reviews the building project Quay Quarter Tower constructed in Sydney. It is hosted by Tim Hansen.
The building Quay Quarter Tower, Sydney, was awarded the 2022 world building of the year prize. Much of the credit for this success is directed towards the carbon savings achieved by the reuse of the existing core structure to support the new building, despite doubling the floor plate and adopting a largely eccentric architectural form.  ADG Engineers (Aust) were challenged by AMP Capital to achieve this result while considering the Architectural intent, constructability, strength and service design. Matt Obst, Project Director, reviews the key elements of the structural solution, in particular the contribution of a 1970 concrete building to meet the demands of a modern design brief.
