Piling design in marine conditions

Stantec has been involved in many bridge projects with piled foundations. Specific design and planning requirements need to be considered for marine conditions. Piling options need to be considered for the site conditions and under consideration of construction with barges and associated logistics. Two examples for those specific conditions are the recent bridge projects in Nelligen and Nowra on the South Coast of NSW. On the basis of these projects, the selection criteria for the piling alternatives are discussed and methods discussed to consider their design and associated constraints. The options include bored piling and construction with open ended steel tubular piles and concrete plug.
Applications and Lessons Learnt in Jet Grouting Civic Heart Base Plug
Presenters: Stephen Harkin – Wagstaff Piling
This presentation covers a brief introduction to grouting, jet grouting and other ground improvement solutions and applications. Then will detail a case study where a subaqueous jet grout plug installed by Wagstaff Piling provided an emergency foundation solution for a commercial development.
