This recorded webinar takes a close look at the use of digital engineering tools in the design of a structure and then the construction and implementation of that structure. It will consist of two presentations:
Victoria Bridge: Application of Digital Engineering
Presenters: Craig Melville and Gabbi Hodge
This presentation will provide a summary of the use of digital engineering tools in the Victoria Bridge refurbishment. This will include description of parametric design, automated workflows and 3D modelling, as well as remote sensing and monitoring technology used over duration of the works.
Victoria Bridge: Construction & Implementation
Presenter: James Manning
This presentation will focus on the construction and implementation of the refurbishment works while maintaining live traffic on the Victoria Bridge. The Victoria Bridge has a traffic loading of over 100,000 trips each day, and it was essential to maintain traffic during construction operations. It will identify key learnings from the works including the non-destructive methods for identifying and avoiding tendons and reinforcement, in situ concrete pours in confined spaces within box girder voids, the planning of works and the use of offsite trials and access considerations.
