Concrete Sealing: Materials, Methods and Performance

Concrete sealing requires careful consideration of the substrate and service exposure conditions in combination with the selection of the most appropriate material and application method. The service exposure condition can range from residential to specialised industrial applications. This presentation reviews the various materials and methods that are used for both penetrating and surface sealing for the protection of concrete. It also reviews the substrate assessment and repair process in preparation of the surface for sealing. Examples of both success and failure of sealing will be illustrated.
