- Greg Anderson - Wagstaff Piling
In this webinar, our presenter – Greg Anderson will present on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) which saw its first patients on 21 March 2017 and was officially opened on 19 April 2017 by the Queensland Premier and Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services.
Wagstaff Piling worked closely with other stakeholders on the project to optimise the hospital foundations. A simplistic and standardised piling system was adopted to benefit the construction program, minimise wastage and enable the site management to interchange segmental pile sections across a variable site.
Wagstaff Piling and Lendlease Construction & Infrastructure worked closely during the bid phase to design and price an economical foundation solution for the 20-hectare site for the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Project.
With the implementation of homogeneous size piles for the project, economies of scale and standardisation of materials where achieved.
The foundation contract involved:
Site probing and mapping of the underlying indurated sand layer and deeper rock profiles
Installation of test piles to confirm design assumptions
Supply and installation of over 4,500 precast segmental piles
Scheduling and programming to optimise off-site casting and on-site production due to the varying construction works.
The foundation contract was completed safely and on time with no LT’s.
