Presenter(s)

  • Justin Moss - Arcadis
  • Geoff Ayton - Transport for NSW

In this webinar we invited two prominent industry practitioners, Justin Moss and Geoff Ayton, to take a close look at the design and construction of concrete pavements.
Design of Concrete Pavements
Presenter: Justin Moss
This presentation includes an overview of the theory underpinning concrete pavement thickness, edge, joint and drainage design, for a wide range of concrete pavements, focussing on roads. The principles outlined are broadly applicable to other applications for pavements such as ports, commercial pavements and local government. Justin reviews the impact of traffic on thickness design, and the considerations for uniformly supported slabs designed for heavy vehicle traffic, such as erosion and fatigue criteria.
Construction of Concrete Pavements
Presenter: Geoff Ayton
This presentation reviews the construction process and the influence of joint layout and design. Geoff summarises the key geometric and joint operating parameters that influence pavement performance under the combined influence of environmental and traffic loading. The presentation includes photographs taken from a range of field cases including highways, roundabouts, parking areas and train platforms.
CPD
This webinar provides 1 hour of CPD. Engineers Australia members may claim this hour of CPD if applicable to their area of engineering practice.
