What can AS 3600 learn from ACI 318?ACI 318 and AS 3600 are two of the most significant codes covering the design and construction of concrete structures. The presentation will outline the similarities and differences between these two codes, their derivation, and their history. It will give a direction to the future of AS 3600 and explore what can be learned from both ACI 318 and ACI 318 Plus.Presenter: Jim Forbes, Chairman Australian Standard Committee BD2 responsible for AS 3600
Design with ACI 318 – An Introduction Using One-Way Slab and Beam Designs.Producing designs compliant with ACI 318 is significantly simplified when there is an understanding of the basic organization of the requirements. The current organization of ACI 318 was created with the design process in mind, to simplify the code checking process, and to provide greater confidence that all pertinent code requirements have been considered. The presenters explain the organization of the code and illustrate the process of producing Code-compliant designs using one-way slab and beam design examples.Presenters: Andrew W. Taylor, Chair, ACI 318 Building Code Committee; Michael L. Tholen, ACI Managing Director of Engineering and Professional Development
