A development application has been submitted to Brisbane City Council by Heidelberg Materials Australia (formerly Hanson Australia) to transform a major site in South Brisbane.
The DA, by Concrete Institute Gold Member Heidelberg, relates to 14 and 19 Nott Street, South Brisbane, the site of Hanson’s former concrete factory and Queensland office. It involves 620 apartments across three 50-storey towers on the city’s riverfront including 5400 sqm of landscaped parkland with public access.
Designed by FJCStudio, the development sits at the southern end of the Kurilpa Sustainable Growth Precinct development and offers one basement level for car parking along with another nine storeys above for the flood-prone site.
The plans replace proposals for an office precinct filed in 2022 that included 12-17 storey towers. The new design will integrate subtropical architectural elements such as vertical greenery, dynamic shading devices, and deep balconies to accommodate the Brisbane climate.
High performance glazing and strategic tower separations are set to ensure natural ventilation, privacy and maximised views towards the Brisbane River and CBD. Each tower will feature rooftop recreation areas, communal sky gardens, shaded outdoor areas, and pools on podium levels.
