Event Summary

Concrete Engineering & Technology Seminar is an annual event organized by Concrete Institute of Australia North Queensland (CIANQ) and James Cook University. Highlights of this year’s seminar are Waterproofing Concrete, AS5100 Bridge and Shear Punching Design of concrete structures.  The seminar will also showcase some of the recent projects and research and developments in North Queensland.

Wayne’s presentations will provide a detailed insight into the updated durability design provisions in Section 4 of AS5100.5 Amendment 2 stepping through some of the changes and the reasons and background for these changes that influence both the durability design and some of the construction aspects of concrete bridges. 

Peter Burnton, Fellow – Arup
Punching Shear Design
Peter is an Arup Fellow, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, School of Civil Engineering and holds a DIC (Concrete Structures). He has served on the AS5100.5 Australian Standards committees for over two decades from the initial version of AS5100. Peter has 45 years of experience in the design of concrete structures for the transport sector – bridges, in ground structures, earth retaining structures, marine structures and concrete pavements.
