A NSW construction contractor has plenty to celebrate: fast-tracking the careers of women, new infrastructure contracts, and a remarkable year of growth with ambitious plans.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has shone a light on Chloe Brooker and Vanshika Patel from Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, working on the Medlow Bath Upgrade in the Blue Mountains. Abergeldie, the lead contractor, says it is proud of the pair’s inspiring journeys who form part of a 100-strong female workforce that has worked on the project.
The upgrade involves the widening of 1.2 km of the Great Western Highway in the Blue Mountains along with new turning lanes, a roundabout, and an upgraded intersection. Ms Brooker started as a labourer on the project and now aspires to be the first female site superintendent while Ms Patel’s goal as an undergraduate engineer is to become a site engineer. Both say their careers have been fast-tracked due to the opportunities available to them on the TfNSW project.
The company has just announced it has been awarded another contract by TfNSW to construct a new super-T bridge over the Lachlan River at Warroo, 46 km west of Forbes. This will involve the construction of a 56 metre-long bridge to replace the existing timber structure (pictured).
This all comes on the back of the release of Abergeldie’s inaugural F24 Annual Report released late last year in its 30th year showing a 25% increase in turnover to $676 million, revealing plans to hit $1.28 billion by 2030.
