Expressions of Interest are open for early contractor involvement partners to collaboratively develop the design and delivery of an advanced manufacturing facility for NSW’s high-speed rail project.
When completed, the Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) will bring together advanced manufacturing, technology and precision engineering to produce the majority of the construction elements needed for the Newcastle to Sydney High Speed Rail project, currently in its development phase.
The High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) is undertaking this Expression of Interest (EOI) for the (AMF) Major Delivery Package and information for applicants is available through AusTender.
“Through this EOI, HSRA seeks to engage suitably experienced Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) partners on a fee-for-service, collaborative basis to develop the AMF solution, design and delivery program,” the organisation stated.
Following the 18 November deadline, the ECI partners will participate in a competitive process finishing with the submission of a proposal for the delivery and operation of the AMF Major Delivery Package.
The Australian Government said the AMF represents an opportunity to change how Australia delivers major infrastructure, manufacturing repeatable components in a controlled environment to achieve quality and consistency, reduce waste, support safer workplaces, and provide greater certainty over cost and delivery.
“The facility’s goals extend beyond supplying components for the railway: the AMF can support stronger domestic supply chains and help develop skills and expertise that can strengthen other parts of Australia’s infrastructure and manufacturing sectors,” the government stated.
The AMF is expected to drive economic productivity and create new opportunities for jobs, new skills, and new manufacturing supply chains. It is anticipated that Hunter Valley affected by job changes caused by the energy transition will also benefit from the development of the facility.
