More than 750 construction workers are blitzing the remaining work to be done on a new Melbourne railway station along with two rail bridges.
Crews will be working around the clock from Wednesday 12 August until Monday 31 August 2026 to finish the new elevated Melton Station and rail bridges over Coburns and Exford Roads in Melbourne suburb, Melton.
The Melton Level Crossing Removal project in the western suburbs of Victoria’s capital will see workers dismantling boom gates, craning in giant concrete beams over the road, and lowering and resurfacing the roads under the rail bridges.
Package Two of the $560 million project was awarded to an aalliance comprising John Holland, Kellogg Brown and Root, Metro Trains Melbourne, V/Line, and the Level Crossing Removal Project to deliver the project.
It involves the new station with four platforms, pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, pick-up and drop-off zones, and lifts and stairs to each platform, plus two new rail bridges over Coburns and Exford Roads.
Construction of the entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
