Ten awards of excellence have been won by Australian projects, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has announced.
There were 118 awards in all, given across 20 categories, with projects spanning 20 countries in the CTBUH’s Award of Excellence Program. These projects will compete to become the overall winner of each category in October at the CTBUH 2025 International Conference.
With main works by Multiplex, Queens Wharf Tower (pictured) at 253 metres-high with 71 storeys, received an Award of Excellence in the Best Tall Buildings 200-299 Metres category.
At 48.3 metres and 15 storeys, Sydney’s brutalist icon, Sirius, renovated by Richard Crookes Constructions, was recognised with an Award of Excellence in the Best Tall Buildings Under 100 metres category.
Both Queen’s Wharf and Sirius also achieved Awards of Excellence in the Best Tall Building by Region, Oceania category together with three other Sydney projects: 1 Elizabeth Street (174 m with Arup in multiple roles), 39 Martin Place (130.1 m with Lendlease as main contractor), and Indi Sydney (141.6 m with CPB Contractors). All five projects will compete for overall winner of the Oceania category.
At 218 metres, Parramatta project, 8 Phillip Street, with Robert Bird Group on board as civil consultant, and main contractor, MN Builders, won the Construction Award of Excellence.
The Sydney Metro Martin Place Station Development (for 1 Elizabeth Street) won a Structure Award, and Metro Martin Place Disappearing Access Machines and Transformer Crane (for Martin Place Metro Towers) took home a Systems award.
