The CSIRO and AMRF Connect are calling on SMEs in additive manufacturing and advanced materials and processing to apply for the latest Innovate to Grow program.
Since 2020, the CSIRO program has equipped more than 750 SMEs with the knowledge and support to progress research and development (R&D) opportunities. Now it has teamed up with the NSW Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility and Western Sydney University to provide a free, eight-week online program through AMRF Connect.
The Innovate to Grow program is open to participants Australia-wide to refine innovation ideas, assess commercial potential, and develop practical pathways for research and development (R&D).
The aim is to “create a thriving advanced manufacturing ecosystem around Bradfield City,” the new metropolis in Western Sydney and Australia’s first new city in a hundred years.
CSIRO Director for Manufacturing, Dr Katja Digweed, said the program supports manufacturing SMEs to navigate complex technology decisions.
“Many SMEs have great ideas but need support to bridge the gap between concept and commercialisation,” Dr Digweed said. “CSIRO’s Innovate to Grow gives businesses practical tools to assess technical opportunities, strengthen their R&D planning and build connections with researchers and industry partners who can help bring innovations to life.”
Specifically, the program will assist you in refining your innovation idea and teach you how to transform it into an R&D opportunity. It also allows you to access tools and information for a comprehensive understanding of R&D collaboration and key considerations at each step. Then you can apply the knowledge to advance your technology or R&D concept.
Participants also gain industry insights, hear from experts, researchers, and an R&D coach. And having the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded SMEs will help expand your professional network.
