Senior Structural Engineer – Buildings

GHD has a career opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer – Buildings to join our Structures team in Northern New South Wales. Based in Newcastle, you will join a close-knit team of experienced technical professionals who continue to service a strong portfolio of buildings projects in the Property and Buildings market. This team provide technical advice, design and documentation services and construction phase services for buildings and related infrastructure projects for a range of public and private sector clients.

We work collaboratively with our clients as an integrated project team to provide designs that focus on constructability, simplicity, innovation and technical excellence.

This opportunity will see you stepping into a lead role and utilising your specialist skills to support diverse projects within a highly regarded group of technical professionals. This role is available on either a full time or part time basis.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing lasting client relationships based on trust and delivery
• Delivering projects from proposal to design documentation and construction
• Providing engineering and technical advice to both internal and external clients
• Liaising with all levels of the organisation to ensure project milestones are met and all design and documentation is complete
• Mentoring and assisting other team members to facilitate a learning and collaborative environment
• Contributing to major building projects on the east coast of Australia

What you will bring to the role:

• Highly-motivated and degree qualified with 10-20 years structural building design experience on a variety of infrastructure or complex buildings projects
• You will possess a thorough working understanding of structural design software packages and be competent in design, documentation and construction supervision
• Sound knowledge of all applicable regulations, Australian codes and standards
• Proven ability to work cohesively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and ability to work to deadlines
• Proven leadership and ability to manage multiple projects effectively
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree qualification, CPEng status or working towards
• Registration under the NSW DB&P Act would be favourable, as would a good working knowledge of mine subsidence impacts on buildings.
