Concrete pour starts on hospital

The creation of concrete foundations for a new hospital in Queensland are underway with more than a thousand cubic metres being poured.

Around 1200 cubic metres of concrete will be poured at the Coomera Hospital construction site on the Gold Coast in the south-east of the state.

The first major concrete pour will require three pumps and 30 trucks each hour over seven hours that will be for the lift cores in the main hospital building, according to the Queensland Government.

The design of the $1.3 billion project is progressing in tandem with early works on-site, with detailed design now 80% complete.

Main construction is scheduled to begin in 2025 and Multiplex is the managing contractor. The project is expected to be completed in late 2027.
