Thanks to crews working around the clock to complete major road works last month and in the coming weeks, the new Webster Street Underpass in Dandenong is set to open on 22 September. The underpass will connect Princes Highway-Lonsdale Street with Cheltenham and Hammond Roads.

Architecture studio KFA plans to convert a 1970’s brutalist office building in LA, that has been empty for 11 years, into 95 apartments after its recent designation as an historic landmark, taking advantage of a recently adopted adaptive reuse ordinance.
An engineering researcher from Cambridge University, UK, has prepared a short survey for structural and civil engineers, contractors, sustainability/carbon specialists, and other built environment professionals that will help to build evidence on how optimisation is used in practice, what barriers limit its adoption, and how future guidance and tools can better connect structural safety, material efficiency, constructability, and embodied-carbon reduction.
