Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC) continues to reshape the way we design and deliver durable, efficient and high-performing concrete structures. But achieving optimal performance requires more than simply adding fibres — it demands a clear understanding of design methodology, specification detail and on-site execution.

This technical seminar will explore how to effectively optimise FRC across the full project lifecycle — from early-stage design decisions through to specification, testing, and construction. Our presenters will share practical guidance on selecting appropriate fibre types and dosages, understanding performance-based design approaches, and aligning specifications with real-world outcomes.

Dr Farhad Nabavi, Managing Director, Technocrete
Dr Farhad Nabavi is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Chartered Professional Engineer in Structural and Civil Engineering, as well as Leadership and Management. He holds a PhD specialising in durability design and service life modelling of concrete structures.
As Founder and Managing Director of TECHNOCRETE, Dr Nabavi brings over 25 years of combined academic and industry experience in structural engineering and infrastructure durability. His expertise encompasses structural and durability design, applied research, advanced condition assessment, non-destructive testing, forensic investigation, and the design and delivery of structural repair and strengthening solutions.
Dr Farhad has led the inspection and assessment of more than 1,500 infrastructure assets, including over 1,400 bridges across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. His portfolio also includes more than 100 marine structures, multi-storey car parks, post-tensioned systems, water towers, reservoirs, and water and wastewater treatment facilities. His work integrates field investigation, NDT, structural modelling & Analysis, durability modelling & design, and evidence-based engineering strategies to optimise asset performance and service life.
He has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications in the areas of fibre-reinforced concrete, concrete durability, and infrastructure service life modelling, contributing to both industry practice and academic research.

Kyle Hundloe, Product Manager ANZ, MB Solutions
Kyle Hundloe is the Product Manager for steel and synthetic fibres at Master Builders Solutions, overseeing solutions across all industry sectors in Australia and New Zealand. With a background in civil engineering, he brings both practical and technical expertise in material engineering, specialising in fibre-reinforced concrete.  Kyle collaborates closely with asset owners, engineers, concrete producers, placers, and other stakeholders to drive innovation, enhance performance and sustainability, and promote fibre-reinforced concrete as an alternative design approach in modern construction.

Dr Nassim Ghosni, Principal Engineer, EI Group - Engineering Ingenuity
Dr Nassim Ghosni is a Chartered Structural Engineer, Chartered Project Manager, with more than 20 years of experience across structural engineering, advanced construction materials, infrastructure and research.She holds both a Master's degree and a PhD specialising in Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC), investigating the behaviour of steel and synthetic fibre reinforced concrete under static, dynamic and cyclic loading. She has authored peer-reviewed publications on FRC and has contributed to major infrastructure, research and innovation projects across Australia and internationally. She is recognised for bridging cutting-edge research with practical engineering solutions, helping translate emerging technologies into real-world applications. Her professional interests include the structural design and application of FRC, Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforcement systems, including GFRP bars, innovative concrete materials, durability, sustainability, structural performance, and the future of advanced construction material in modern infrastructure.
