Event Summary
The NEXGen webinar series is organised by the CIA NEXGen committee, with the objective of providing opportunities for the next generation of concrete leaders to convene, present and participate in technical events and knowledge development.
Non-destructive testing (NDT) plays a critical role in assessing the condition, performance, and durability of concrete structures without causing damage. This webinar, brought to you by the CIA NEXGen steering group, will provide an overview of the latest NDT techniques and technologies used to evaluate concrete quality, identify defects, assess reinforcement condition, and support maintenance and asset management decisions. Through practical case studies and expert presentations from two of our NEXGen community, attendees will gain valuable insights into selecting and interpreting NDT methods for existing structures, helping engineers, asset owners, consultants, and contractors make informed decisions regarding structural safety, serviceability, and long-term performance.
The webinar is FREE for all CIA Members and will be hosted by CIA NEXGen Steering Committee Chair, Arun Arunothayan from Advanced Precast.

Jemma Ehsman is a Structural / Civil Engineer who has worked in the field of corrosion, durability and asset management for over 10 years. Jemma has worked across multiple sectors, beginning her career in consultancy in NSW then transiting to WA, and now works at Dampier Salt (Rio Tinto), managing structural and civil integrity across its two site operations and more recently is Acting Superintendent of Asset Strategy managing technical governance capital portfolio, fixed, mobile and civil strategy.
Jessie Ratcliffe, VIC State Manager - BCRC
Jessie is a Durability Engineer with a PhD in Materials Engineering, with more than 7 years of consulting experience across the building, transport, water, and mining sectors, complemented by 3 years of research and laboratory work. Since joining BCRC, she has undertaken testing, assessment, and reporting for a wide range of reinforced concrete structures, providing durability and remedial advice for concrete and masonry assets. Jessie combines her strong technical expertise with forensic and report-writing skills to deliver high-quality assessments and repair recommendations.
