Reinforcement Continuity in High-Rise Precast Buildings - Practical Connection Systems for Modern Construction
This session examines mechanically coupled reinforcement continuity in precast columns, shear walls and core walls, where bars are continuous and fully developed through the slab joint and elements are erected without propping. It sets out the two-stage design process — temporary stability under self-weight and wind, then permanent capacity to AS3600 Section 10 — and clarifies where design certification for the temporary state sits with the system supplier while the permanent case remains with the project engineer.
