The final stage of construction of a new high-capacity concrete plant at Badgerys Creek is underway and will supply 1000 cubic metres a day to the Western Sydney region.
Holcim’s new facility is 1.5km from the Nancy-Bird Walton Western Sydney Airport and 2.5km from the new city of Bradfield. The new concrete plant will work alongside sister plants at Emu Plains, Narellan, and Rooty Hill, and has been positioned to be right at the centre of the region’s growth.
Greg Price, executive general manager of ready-mix concrete and major projects, revealed the new plant has been two years in the making and is expected to open soon.
“We know where the next wave of development is heading and we make sure we are there ready to support it as construction ramps up,” he explained.
“Western Sydney is one of the most significant growth corridors in the country right now, and this plant means we can support that growth from day one of production … it’s set to be one of our busiest plants, producing concrete for one of the biggest urban developments in the country.”
The new plant will supply a range of concrete including its ECOPact low-carbon concrete and the Geostone decorative concrete.
Holcim, a Gold member of the Concrete Institute of Australia, said the site has also been fitted with EV truck charging infrastructure, as it works towards making its plants ready for a growing electric fleet.
