More than 375 deliveries of concrete have arrived on-site in Devonport, Tasmania, as the city’s new sports complex takes shape.
Construction commenced on the $60 million Devonport Oval Complex project in October 2025 and has included demolition, earthworks, and early construction works. Local construction company Fairbrother, which has been around since 1972, was awarded the contract to transform the existing site into a contemporary multi-sport precinct for the state’s north-west region.
At present, more than 3000 cubic metres of concrete have arrived on-site. Precast installation works have also been completed around the community courts, according to Anne Urquhart, Federal MP for Braddon.
The first slab for the administration and kiosk building has also successfully been poured and the Tasmanian Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, reported that 20% of the development has been finished.
Designed by Melbourne architecture firm, Peddle Thorp, the facility (pictured) will include three-court indoor community hall; another three-court show-court hall for competitions, outdoor courts and community access recreation facilities, multi‑club social and administration facilities, cricket and high-performance training facilities, and associated development such as carparking and landscaping.
Devonport’s new oval complex is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
