Construction is progressing on the restoration of the heritage Dixon Tannery building in Brisbane’s West End with the car park levels already complete.
The $220 million development on Montague Road in the inner-city area of the Queensland capital will be 11-storeys tall and will house 81 residences and a wellness retreat and underground parking.
Developed and built by McNab, a 30-year-old company, is working with architects Cottee Parker to blend heritage conservation with modern construction. The project includes the demolition and careful restoration of the 19th century Dixon Tannery’s original brick building, constructed in 1893, which closed after 77 years, in 1970.
McNab’s August construction update revealed news about the concrete pours on the project.
“The team has made some incredible progress, moving up the building and pouring Levels 1 and 2, along with half of Level 3. That’s the car park levels officially complete,” McNab stated.
“Looking ahead, we’ll start moving into the residential levels, with the second concrete slab pour for Level 3, followed by two pours for Level 4.”
Further site infrastructure works are planned for September, including the installation of loading bays and the construction hoist, which will support the efficient movement of materials and workers as the building rises. Progress is also continuing in the heritage wellness building, with temporary engineering and refurbishment works.
