Construction of a new high-capacity low-carbon concrete plant has commenced in Western Sydney that will have the capacity to deliver up to a thousand cubic metres a a day.
Designed to support work in the Aerotropolis and Bradfield City Centre, the plant is located at Badgerys Creek, 1.5 km from the Nancy-Bird Walton Airport (Western Sydney Airport) – pictured – and 2.5 km from the city. This will enable direct supply to key construction sites with minimal transport time or disruption.
Owned by Holcim Australia, a Gold Member of the Concrete Institute of Australia, construction of the facility began last month and is expected to be complete and operational by mid-next year.
Executive General Manager – Ready-Mix Concrete & Major Projects, Greg Price, revealed the concrete plant will produce the company’s low-carbon ECOPact concrete that enables up to 70% of lower embodied carbon than OPC.
The facility has been designed with future growth in mind and flexibility to meet evolving project needs, the company said.
“With the capacity to deliver up to 1000 cubic metres of concrete per day, the Badgerys Creek plant is expected to be one of the most productive in the region,” Price said. “[It’s] a key advantage as the scale and complexity of local construction ramps up.”
Holcim Australia supplies aggregates, ready-mix concrete, engineered concrete solutions and precast concrete pipes. Its history in this country goes back to 1901.
