Civil contractors along with engineers and suppliers looking for future work might want to head to the eastern seaboard next week for briefings on Pacific projects over the next two years.
The US$2 billion Pacific infrastructure pipeline will be showcased by Austrade in Brisbane (23 March), Sydney (24 March), and Melbourne (25 March), providing project updates across the transport, water, energy and social infrastructure sectors.
The breakdown includes (in US dollars) $748 m for transport, $731 m for energy, $340 m for water, $172 m for social infrastructure, and $16 m for digital.
Experienced bidders, particularly for civil works packages valued at US$10-50 million, are in short supply, Austrade’s Trade Commissioner, Pacific, Tim Houghton said, according to Infrastructure Magazine.
Mr Houghton told the news site that major projects across the Pacific “are moving into design, prequalification, and tender phases … [so] … we are seeing sustained demand in civil works, utilities, renewable energy, and advisory services”.
The briefings next week will target Australian companies capable of delivering projects valued at US$10 million or more including Tier 2 and Tier 3 civil construction contractors; engineering and design consultancies; and specialist infrastructure suppliers.
Presenters from Austrade, DFAT, Defence, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and Export Finance Australia will be involved in the roadshow.
Contractors will also be able to engage earlier in feasibility and technical advisory stages, with smaller supply contractors valued at US$10,000 also a part of the pipeline. Austrade will clarify funding structures and procurement pathways and provide in-market support to assess risk.
There will also be a Business Opportunities Seminar held in Fiji from 25-27 May 2026.
